A company with a 120 year history isn’t just a service provider; they’re a part of the fabric of the community. That’s certainly the case with CentraCom, which has been delivering phone, Internet and cable TV to central, north and western Utah since it was founded in 1903 as the first independent rural telephone company in Fairview, Utah.

Thriving communities benefit everyone, and CentraCom is committed to doing its part by partnering with various charitable organizations and supporting local events. And promoting education has been a key part of that outreach.

Spectrum Academy is one of CentraCom’s key community partners. Spectrum, the premier charter school in Utah for students with High Functioning Autism, Asperger's Syndrome and others, helps students reach their fullest potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Spectrum and CentraCom have been linked since the academy’s founding.

“Just a few weeks from the opening of the school, another provider backed out. We were asked to step in and get it going in that short amount of time,” says Brad Welch, CentraCom Chief Operating Officer. “The city expedited the excavation permits for our fiber install. We were able to move construction crews around to complete the circuit in time, so Spectrum had the connectivity they needed when the school opened.”

In fact, that relationship persists to this day, as a member of that community now proudly works on one of CentraCom’s construction teams:

Additionally, CentraCom provides fiber optic connectivity to almost 300 public schools, charter schools, and community clinics through the Utah Education and Telehealth Network. The company also donated more than $70,000 to local school districts, charitable organizations, and medical foundations as part of an annual employee effort to give back to the community.
